Mindful Eating Program
Tuesday's @ 12pm starting April 23rd - 8 week program
“Mindful eating is an inside-out approach to eating and self-care that focuses on changing thoughts and feelings first, so changes in behaviors will last. Mindful eating helps because it hones your awareness about why, when, what, how, and how much you eat,” according to Michelle May, M.D., founder of Am I Hungry?® Mindful Eating Programs and Training. Dr. May, a self-proclaimed recovered yoyo dieter, says most diets fail because they are negative and unsustainable, leaving the dieter feeling guilty and disappointed. Instead of following rigid rules, Am I Hungry? participants retrain themselves to eat instinctively using the Mindful Eating Cycle from May’s book, Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat: How to Break Your Eat-Repent-Repeat Cycle.
Brenna VanDalsen, a licensed Am I Hungry? Mindful Eating facilitator in Colfax, WA said, “Instead of setting a goal to lose an arbitrary number of pounds, resolve to become more mindful about your eating, physical activity, and self-care. This approach doesn’t require deprivation and punishment because positive, enjoyable changes are the only way to break the eat-repent-repeat cycle for good.”
Brenna is offering an 8 week Program starting April 23rd at 12pm at Whitman Hospital - Lower Level. The program will be 8 weeks long and cost only $40 for materials. Participants will discover how to reconnect with their instinctive ability to eat when they’re hungry and stop when they’re full without restrictive rules. Participants also learn to recognize and cope with mindless and emotional eating and rediscover joy in movement.
